5-day intensive (Sorry, due to COVID, this course is not offered in person at this time)
The Meditation teacher certification course is now entirely online.
For general information on the course, see the Meditation Teacher Training Course Overview.
The daily schedule of the intensive is designed for you to receive:
- Instruction in advanced meditation practices
- Opportunities to practice teaching others
- Long meditations to deepen your own experience
The knowledge of how to teach meditation is important, but it’s also vital that knowledge is rooted in your own personal experience. Only by infusing your mind and body with Being, pure consciousness, will your teaching flow naturally, with authority, and uplift and inspire your students. For this reason, please consider the intensive an extended meditation retreat as well as a Meditation Teacher Training Course.
Note that this schedule is subject to change. Special activities or needs of the group or teacher may require adjustments. If you have any questions, please contact us.
Our daily schedule will be approximately as follows:
Waking to 8:30 am
Private* yoga/pranayama and meditation practice. If you don’t currently practice yoga, it’s a good idea to start, at the very least for the duration of the course. Simple yoga asanas will be taught, as will various forms of pranayama. If you want a snack, breakfast snacks are available.
8:30 to 9:30 am
Guided group meditation. At the beginning of the course, Ajayan will guide; for the rest of the course you will take turns guiding.
9:30 am to 11:30
Instruction in advanced practices of meditation. You will also practice teaching the various aspects of Effortless Mind meditation, which you will have learned prior to the Intensive.
11:30 to 3:30 pm
We’ll prepare our lunch and eat and clean up/walk/study/rest/occasional and optional short excursions to nearby beaches. Appointments may also be made to see Ajayan privately during this time.
3:30 to 5:00 pm
Instruction and practice teaching. (See Curriculum.)
5:00 to 6:30 pm
Group meditation, which you will take turns leading. Then, advanced practice.
6:30 to 7:30 pm
We’ll prepare our meal together, eat, and clean up. (We may do some meal prep earlier.) As time allows, a walk in nature.
7:30 pm to 9:00 pm
Question and answer; practice teaching; discussion of mechanics of meditation; practice answering questions; group reading and study of traditional texts.
9:00 pm to 10 pm
Time for reading traditional texts, study TTC material, or going to bed. Lights out by 10 or 10:30 pm at latest. Most will find the routine of this course requires extra sleep, as deep accumulated fatigue gets released. Going to bed early is conducive to clear meditation and to waking early for early morning meditation.
days of silence
We will have at least one day of silence for diving deep into your personal practice of meditation. On the silence day(s) we will fast until dinner, maintain silence, and do extra meditation and yoga.
